What's My Role as The Parent or Guardian

As the parent or guardian of a loved one receiving services through LIVEWELL, your role is vital to ensuring a successful, respectful, and consistent care experience. Whether your care partner is a trusted family member or an agency-placed provider, your partnership with LIVEWELL helps us maintain safe, high-quality care in the home.

Your Role Includes:

1. Maintaining Clear Communication

  • Share important details about your child’s needs, preferences, routines, and goals

  • Inform LIVEWELL of any schedule changes, provider concerns, or updates that may affect care

  • Respond to communication from our Care or Staffing Team as needed

2. Supporting Consistency

  • Help establish a reliable routine for your child and their care partner

  • Set expectations around punctuality, duties, and any house-specific norms

3. Providing Oversight

  • Observe the quality of care being provided

  • Ensure your child is safe, comfortable, and respected

  • Let LIVEWELL know if any concerns arise about performance, professionalism, or boundaries

4. Creating a Supportive Environment

  • Treat Care Partners with respect and appreciation

  • Encourage open dialogue, especially in the beginning of the care relationship

Do I Need to Be Present During Shifts?

No. Parents or guardians are not required to be present during approved shifts unless otherwise specified in your child’s plan or care arrangement. However, you should always be reachable in case of questions, emergencies, or care-related needs.

Important Boundaries

  • Care Partners may not supervise siblings or other children who are not enrolled Regional Center clients

  • Shifts must stay within the client’s authorized care hours

  • Any schedule changes or concerns must be submitted to LIVEWELL for documentation and support
